Not only is Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI) an effective way to enhance student engagement, it is also a federal regulation and UA policy. This workshop will review the federal regulation and University of Alabama policy regarding regular and substantive interaction (RSI) and provide compliance strategies. Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to define RSI, explain why it is a best practice for online learning and implement interactions in their online courses.

By the end of this workshop, the participant will be able to:

  • Define regular interaction.
  • Define substantive interaction.
  • Differentiate between correspondence education and distance education.
  • List five ways to meet substantive interaction requirements.
